F1 Exhibition racing to Melbourne this November: Full review and guide to plan your visit
The F1 Exhibition is opening at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on November 29 and this is the first time it has ever come to the Asia Pacific.
If you follow Formula One, love engineering, or you are visiting Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix in March, this experience will grab you straight away.
I have been waiting years for this to reach our side of the world, so the excitement is very real!
Why the F1 Exhibition Melbourne is a must visit
The exhibition has already toured through major cities like Madrid, Vienna, London, Toronto, Buenos Aires and Amsterdam. Every city had huge demand, with London booked out daily for 10 months. The Melbourne stop feels special because of the scale, the lineup and the exclusive Aussie content that has been added for this location.
It covers 22,000 square feet across 7 purpose built rooms. Each space blends real stories, rare artefacts, full-sized cars and interactive displays. The pacing feels exciting. You can go slow, stop to read, or move quickly into the next room if something catches your eye.
I love that it does not feel like a traditional display. There are engines, screens, suits, helmet walls, reaction tests and a fully built racing simulator. Everything pulls you forward.
What I enjoyed most inside the F1 Exhibition Melbourne
The Albert Park simulator is easily one of my favourite parts. Sitting in the seat and driving a full lap of the Australian Grand Prix circuit is something you do not get to do anywhere else.
I also loved the reaction time challenge based on Michael Schumacher’s famous 0.16 second test! It becomes a quiet competition between anyone who tries it.
The interactive zones were a big highlight as well. You can snap a complimentary photo on the Winners Podium, design your own helmet, test different engineering features and try a few hands-on displays that break up the history sections. It adds a fun pace to the exhibition and keeps you moving.
Seeing the 5 featured cars up close is incredible. The Brabham BT19, Williams FW0704, Red Bull RB7, BAR Honda 005 and the Lotus E21 each tell a different story in the timeline of the sport.
I found myself stopping longer than expected because you can get so close and see details you would normally miss on screen.
The mix of helmets, race suits and archive interviews is huge. More than 60 helmets and over 25 suits are displayed, each with a small piece of history attached. If you love the human side of racing, this room keeps you there for a while.
The Aussie Drive room is a standout exclusive to Melbourne
This room highlights Australia’s racing story from Jack Brabham and Alan Jones through to Oscar Piastri. There is archival footage, historic circuits and moments that shaped our connection with Formula One. It is one of the strongest parts of the exhibition and feels like a genuine tribute to Australia’s place in global racing.

Tips before visiting the F1 Exhibition Melbourne
- Book early because every city so far has reached full capacity often.
- Choose early bird sessions if you prefer a quieter flow.
- Arrive a little early for the simulator queue.
- Check public transport as the precinct can get busy.
- Bring a small bag only, as larger bags may need to be stored in lockers.
- Pram parking is available on site.
- Toilets are located outside of the exhibition (near the pram parking)
Final thoughts
I walked out of the exhibition with the same buzz you get on race weekend. It is packed with detail, emotion, technology and moments that remind you why this sport is so loved.
