Imaginationation Chadstone review and guide for families visiting the new premium playcentre
We had the privilege to visit Imaginationation ahead of opening day and it feels like a beautiful new chapter for indoor play. Chadstone has needed a high quality play space for a long time and this one delivers. It opens Monday 8 December and it is one of the most calming yet creative playcentres I have stepped into.
If you ever shop at Chadstone with kids, this will become your go to stop. It is easy to reach, beautifully designed and set up in a way that helps you keep an overview of the whole space. The layout, the lighting and the calm sensory corners all work together to make it feel spacious rather than overwhelming.
What to expect inside Imaginationation Chadstone
The space is huge with 1,200 m2 of interactive zones, soft play, building areas and sensory rooms. It has been designed for children aged 0-7 and you can feel the level of thought that went into every corner.
I love how many options there are for babies. Soft play areas, gentle lighting, sensory walls and small climbing frames give the tiniest visitors something to explore without feeling overstimulated. It is rare to find a playcentre that truly considers babies as much as toddlers and preschoolers.
The Colourful CONNETIX Cave is a standout. It is colourful, inviting and perfect for kids who love creating structures or experimenting with shapes. The dimmed lighting is very sensory-friendly as well. The classes and guided play sessions also look great for families who want something more structured.
One of my favourite spots is the starry projection dome. It is filled with bean bags and has a beautiful calm atmosphere. It is the perfect rest area for parents who want a quick break or for children who need a gentler moment away from the action.
I also like that there are separate change rooms and kiddie sized toilets. Small details like this make the entire visit feel smoother and far more practical!
The onsite café is another win. You can get good coffee, smoothies, snacks and even baby meals from Le Puree. Everything feels considered which makes a big difference when you are out with kids.
Why I think Imaginationation will be popular
The sensory-friendly and architectural design is a big part of it. There are dimmer rooms for breaks, calming spaces for children who need quiet moments and plenty of visual cues that feel gentle.
I also love that you can buy 1h (Thu-Sun) or 2h (everyday) passes. It gives you flexibility if you are at Chadstone for shopping and need a clean, safe play option without committing to a long stay. Memberships and family passes make it easier for regular visitors.
The space feels premium without being unapproachable. It is playful, modern and polished but still warm and welcoming. Everything is set up to help kids explore at their own pace while giving grown ups a comfortable space to sit in or move around.
