Little Amigos Play Cafe at Southland

Melbourne’s new indoor playground for toddlers that’s big on fun and surprisingly tasty food (ramen and rice bowls!)

If you’re chasing a fun break during your Southland shopping trip, Little Amigos Play Cafe is a total gem. Opened in June 2025 and tucked near the food court and Village Cinemas, it’s one of my favourite new finds for families with kids aged 1 to 6. Think massive ball pits, miniature trains, water games, sand play and even a ramen bowl for lunch – all without ever leaving the shopping centre.

It’s super convenient when you need to keep the kids happy mid-shop, without strapping them back in the car. Just pop in for an hour or stay all day – it’s all inside Westfield Southland.

A play space that’s anything but basic

I was so impressed with how much thought went into this one. There’s a zone with glowy bricks and a mini vet clinic, giant plush animals (like, bigger than my toddler), bowling games, water guns, pretend play setups like a supermarket, and a super fun train ride that’s included in your entry. I love that all the tokens and rides are included – no need to keep handing over change.

The sandpit is great for sensory play, and there’s even a fishing game inside the dedicated toddler area – yes, you read that right! There are also party rooms available, so definitely worth checking out for birthdays or catch-ups.

Delicious food and family-friendly vibes

What really stood out to me? The food. I’ve never seen ramen and rice bowls served at a play cafe before – and they are actually good. You’ll also find all the classics like salads, tacos, pancakes and smashed avo too, plus a kids menu with nuggets, chips, spaghetti, sliders and spring rolls.

If you’ve got little ones and want somewhere fresh, fun and central – this one’s a no-brainer. Go midweek if you can for a slightly quieter vibe, and definitely come hungry.
